As a parent, your biggest fear is that your children will get hurt. Even if his son gets a little scraped up, he hurts her a lot, let alone if he hurts himself even more!
This family went through their worst nightmare when they lost two brothers in the same horrible accident…
Ashley Kauffman’s life revolved around her two children; 13-year-old Kayden Compton and 10-year-old Braydon Kauffman. The young family had their fair share of trials and tribulations, but always made sure to support each other.
Ashley had been diagnosed with cancer and had undergone chemotherapy and other treatments for her illness. Her little children were by her mother’s side, helping her in any way they could.
She was approaching the birthday of her beloved eldest son and the little family was excited at the prospect of celebrating the big day.
Braydon was a fifth grader at McGregor Elementary School, and his older brother, Kayden, was an eighth grader at the SEAMM Academy in Canton, Ohio.
On October 1, 2022, the two brothers left the house. Ashley had always been a protective mother and made sure her children were always safe. She didn’t even allow the children to ride a bike, something many other children used to do. But not her children.
However, even with her protective parenting style, tragedy struck. Around 9:22 p.m., the authorities were informed of an accident and immediately moved to the scene to provide rescue services.
Both brothers were in a Ford F-550, when the driver lost control of the vehicle and it flipped and eventually crashed into a tree. When emergency services arrived at the scene, they found that both brothers had died at the scene. The driver had survived and was taken to a hospital to receive treatment for various injuries he sustained.
When Ashley was notified of the accident that resulted in the death of her two children, she was shocked and stunned. She said in a Facebook post, “a part of me died that night.”
Families who lived near the crash site and heard it happen rushed to the car to see if they could help in any way. They saw that the occupants of the vehicle were trapped underneath and realized there was little they could do but wait for the rescue services to arrive. One area resident recalled: “The first responders came with the jaws of life.”
The death of the two adorable young men devastated everyone in the area. Lissa Morgan, who had been friends with the boys, said: “I miss him so much, and it’s like you never know how much you miss them until they’re gone. It is very difficult for me”.
Chris Kauffman-Gilger, a relative of mother Ashley, organized a GoFundMe fundraiser to help the mother who unexpectedly had to prepare for not one, but two funerals at the same time. Chris wrote in the caption: “These two boys loved life to the fullest and were the happiest, kindest, most loving and caring boys you have ever met.”
The GoFundMe fundraiser hoped to raise $17,000 but quickly exceeded the amount needed. People across the country cared for Ashley and wanted to help in any way they could.
An investigation into the accident is currently underway. Ashley took to Facebook to reveal what she had learned from a witness; that the driver had been under the influence of alcohol while he was driving. She wrote: “Thanks to the witness who felt enough pain and sadness for my innocent babies, to tell the truth.”
Ashley is completely heartbroken by this loss, as can be expected of a mother. She hopes to get justice for the unjust and untimely death of her beloved children.
Our condolences go out to Ashley and the rest of the family and friends of these lovely young men. I hope justice is done.
