Family can’t get back to California home to save their dog – return one month later and can’t believe who’s waiting

When a family was unable to return home due to the recent devastating California Camp fire, all they could think about was their beloved dog Madison.

They hoped and prayed that she was okay, but of course they were very concerned about her safety. But little did they know of the loyalty and strength of the family pet and the guardian angel who fed and drank him until he could meet again.

Four weeks after the family was prevented from returning to their home because it was too dangerous, they were able to return but couldn’t believe who was waiting for them.

“I am so HAPPY to report that Andrea was allowed to return to her property today and THERE WAS MADISON! She had stayed to protect what was left of her home and NEVER gave up on her people!” K9 Paw Print Rescue shared in a Facebook post.

“Madison’s parents couldn’t get home with him when the Camp Fire spread. They hoped and prayed that he was okay. When they finally got clearance to return to the lot where her house once stood… Madison was waiting for them there as if she was protecting her old home. Never give up!!” the group wrote.

Rescuer Shayla Sullivan, who helped care for pets including Madison after the devastating fires, wrote: “I am so happy I am crying as I write this! He didn’t give up through storm or fire! A MUUUUUUUUUUUUUUYOR month must have been for him!”

Andrea Gaylord, the dog’s owner, said the reunion was emotional. “Imagine the loyalty of hanging on in the worst of circumstances and being here waiting,” she told ABC 10. “It was very emotional.”

“Watching it was surreal”
Animal hero Shayla said on her Facebook page that she had been looking for Madison after her owner reported him missing and made sure there was fresh food and water in the area until her owners could return, but never actually saw her. to the sweet hound

“It was the BEST feeling that Madison got to know our truck. After feeding him for almost a month, but NOT knowing for sure that she was still there, seeing it was surreal,” she wrote.

I’m so glad Madison didn’t give up, his actions are a testament to how loyal dogs are. And thank God for these animal heroes who are doing everything they can to keep people’s pets alive until families can return to their land.
