Teenager flips more than 5 times in speeding car, says Jesus saved him from death

Having a loved one involved in an accident is perhaps one of the scariest things you can go through. We always pray that fate does not befall anyone we care about.

As a parent, the scariest thing you can imagine is harm coming to your child. These parents of a teenager in Indiana lived through perhaps their biggest nightmare very recently…

Ray, along with his cousin and friend, was fixing up a red sedan in the summer of 2021. Once the three guys were satisfied with the job they had done, they decided to test drive the car.

Ray’s friend was driving, while he sat in the passenger seat and his cousin sat in the back seat. The teens drove through North Sweetser in rural Indiana.

The road they were driving on was pretty bumpy, Ray’s friend driving hit the gas only for it to miss. Unable to control the car, he crashed into a pole, after which he flipped five times, before finally coming to a stop in a nearby yard.

Ray was somewhat conscious throughout the ordeal. Once the car finally stopped, he managed to get out of the totalized wreckage and came around the back to help his cousin out of the backseat.

He then turned his attention to his friend who had been driving the car but was feeling too weak to continue. Instead, he lay down on the grass, hoping someone would rescue them soon.

“I thought he was dead,” he later recalled.

The remains were soon discovered and the children’s families were alerted. Ray’s mother, Amber Lavengood, who is a trained nurse, received the shocking news of her son’s accident.

She expected the worst before arriving at the crash site, but she did not lose faith. She asked her mother to pray, she remembers saying, “Mom, please pray, not my baby.”

When Lavengood arrived at the crash site, she immediately ran to her teenage son who was lying next to the wreckage. Her trained eye as a nurse dedicated herself to finding any injuries her son suffered. Ray immediately told him, “I’m fine. Jesus saved me,” complaining of pain only in his back and neck.

But in her professional evaluation, she felt that her arm was also injured and she waited for the firefighters to remove Ray’s friend from the driver’s seat before asking them to transport his son to the nearest hospital so that he could be treated. he could get attention.

As she waited for doctors to evaluate her son and run tests, she braced herself to learn of her numerous injuries. But instead, she was shocked to discover that Ray had no serious injuries at all; just some minor scratches. Meanwhile, his friend and cousin did not fare so well and he had multiple broken bones.

Doctors released Ray that same night and he slept in his own bed. His mother recalls the whole thing as “unbelievable”.

Two weeks after the accident, no one would have been able to tell that Ray had an accident. His friend and cousin also recovered very well and in a very short time.

Ray might have lost his life just days before his 18th birthday, but he somehow survived. Since then, he has confessed that he has begun to pray more often as all the ordeal brought him closer to God.

Ray’s story is a gentle reminder of everyday miracles. An accident that should have left him dead or maybe even with some serious injuries barely scratched him.
