4-yr-old boy is dying of cancer, then he opens his eyes and whispers 4 heartbreaking words

At first, it seemed that three-year-old Nolan had a simple case of nasal congestion. But long after he should have come clean, the situation only got worse.

And in the end, the boy’s parents, Ruth and Jonathan Scully, received a message that parents around the world are afraid to hear: Nolan was suffering from rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer.

For 18 months, Nolan battled the disease.

He remained strong, brave and positive. But in February 2017, the brave boy succumbed to the disease.

At just four years old, Nolan passed away in the arms of his mother.

However, it wasn’t Nolan’s long battle with cancer that his mother, Ruth Scully, wrote about in a heartbreaking Facebook post. Her moving story details the last days of her son’s life.

Nolan’s doctors explained that it was no longer possible to treat the boy’s illness and that all they could do was try to make Nolan as comfortable as possible while his condition continued to deteriorate.

Then, during her last trip to the hospital, Ruth Scully shared a moment with her son that she will never forget.

Ruth Scully wrote on Facebook:

I sat down with him, put my head against his, and had the following conversation:

Me: Poot, it hurts to breathe doesn’t it?

Nolan: Well… yeah.

Me: You’re in a lot of pain, right, baby?

Nolan: (looking down) Yeah.

Me: Poot, this cancer thing sucks. You no longer have to fight.

Nolan: (Pure Happiness) NOT ME?! But I will do it for you, mommy!!

Me: No Poot!! Is that what you’ve been doing? fighting for mommy??

Nolan: Well, DUH!!

Me: Nolan Ray, what is mom’s job?

Nolan: To keep me SAFE! (With a big smile)

Me: Honey… I can’t do that here anymore. The only way I can keep you safe is in heaven. (My heart broke)

Nolan: So I’ll go to heaven and play until you get there. you will come, right?

Me: Absolutely!! You can’t get rid of mommy that easy!

Nolan: Thank you mom!!! I’m going to play with Hunter, Brylee and Henry!

For the next few days, Nolan slept most of the time.

His parents decided to take him home and spend one last night at home. But as his parents were packing, Nolan took his mother’s hand and told her that he was fine staying in the hospital.

“My hero of four years was trying to make sure things went smoothly for me,” Ruth Scully wrote on Facebook.

I
She continued:

At about 9:00 pm we were watching YouTube in bed (Peppa Pig actually) and I asked Nolan if I could get in the shower since I wasn’t allowed to leave it and mommy had to be touching it at all times.

He said, “Ummmm, it’s okay, mommy. Tell Uncle Chris to come sit with me and I’ll turn this way so I can see you.”

I stood in the bathroom doorway, turned to him and said, “Keep looking here, Poot. I’ll be out in two seconds.

He smiled at me. I closed the bathroom door. They said that the moment the bathroom door clicked, he closed his eyes and fell into a deep sleep, beginning to pass the end of life.

When I opened the bathroom door, his team was surrounding his bed and all heads turned and looked at me with tears in their eyes.

They said, “Ruth, he’s fast asleep. He can’t feel anything. His breathing was extremely labored. His right lung had collapsed and his oxygen dropped.

I ran and jumped on the bed with him and put my hand on the right side of his face. Then a miracle happened that I will never forget…

My angel took a breath, opened his eyes, smiled at me and said, “I love you, mommy”, he turned his head towards me, and at 11:54 p.m. Sergeant Rollin Nolan Scully passed away while I was singing “You are My Sunshine” in his ear.

The boy woke up for the last time, gathered strength and told her mother that he loved her. And the heartwarming story has already touched millions of hearts around the world and continues to do so.

Farewell to a hero
Nolan’s family decided to share his funeral with the many Facebook fans who had supported him during his battle. They broadcast the sad event in a live broadcast, including a moving farewell to local first responders and law enforcement agencies.

“Sergeant. Rollin’ Nolan” was wonderfully honored when firefighters and police officers took turns guarding Nolan’s red casket.

This is usually done when officers are killed in the line of duty by him, but everyone could agree that Nolan deserved it.

The funeral procession began at the Hollywood Volunteer Fire Department, and then Nolan’s casket was carried outside, where 100 first responders greeted him.

Nolan’s casket was lifted in the fire truck, and the brave little boy was honored with his.”

In September 2022, Nolan’s mother gave another emotional update on what would have been his 10th birthday. According to her mother, this birthday of hers hit her “in the stomach harder than the previous ones.”

“Maybe it’s the things he misses and we miss with him. Maybe it’s the question of what life would be like if he was still here with me,” she wrote.

Usually, Nolan’s mom and her siblings try to do something fun that he would have liked on his birthday, but this year, Nolan’s mom just couldn’t.

Instead, she took some of her children to the cemetery. They took some red balloons to his grave and wrote some personal greetings on them before sending them to “heaven”.

Never forget to tell your mom how much you love her. If she was also touched by this story, share it and help spread this message!
