That’s when Megan decided to take a break from her busy work day and join the woman at her desk. The two talked for a bit before Megan went back to her job duties.

“He came in about the middle of my 17-hour shift, and it was Sunday, which is always pretty busy,” Megan shared. “About halfway through his meal, he started to slow down, so we chatted for a few minutes. We chatted, nothing too deep. He told me he was almost 70…and just wanted to stop by an old favorite for a bite to eat.” . .”

Little did Megan know how much that interaction meant to that old lady. Before leaving, the old lady decided to leave Megan a note in which she told him how her act of kindness made her feel.

“Thank you so much for your kind service. This was the first time I’ve been out to eat alone since my husband passed away. I was hoping I could get over it,” the note read.

As soon as Megan saw the handwritten note, she had to hold back her tears and went to the bathroom to recover from the wave of emotions. She took a photo of the sweet note. She also took a photo of herself smiling with a tear rolling down her face and posted both photos online.

This is my real smile because I am so happy and that note did not break my heart at all,” she wrote in the caption of her photo.
